Spain is another country in Europe that has so much to explore that you could literally spend months and months there and not see everything it has to offer.

Spain offers a mix of historic cities, Mediterranean beaches, impressive architecture, great food, and landscapes that change dramatically from one region to the next. Barcelona is known for Gaudí landmarks such as the Sagrada Família and Park Güell, along with the Gothic Quarter, markets, and beaches.

In the center of the country, Madrid combines grand architecture and lively neighborhoods with excellent museums, plazas, and easy day trips to historic cities such as Toledo and Segovia.

Southern Spain has an entirely different feel. Málaga makes a great introduction to the Costa del Sol, with beaches, museums, a Roman theater, and the hilltop Alcazaba. It’s also a convenient base for exploring more of Andalusia, one of Spain’s most fascinating regions.

Here you’ll find Seville’s cathedral and Real Alcázar, Granada’s spectacular Alhambra, Córdoba’s Mosque-Cathedral, the dramatic town of Ronda, and dozens of smaller whitewashed villages scattered across the countryside.

For a completely different Spanish experience, you can walk the Camino de Santiago, a network of historic pilgrimage routes that cross Spain and finish in Santiago de Compostela. Whether you walk for a few days or tackle an entire route, the Camino offers a slower way to experience the country’s landscapes, villages, food, and local culture.

From Moorish palaces and medieval streets to modern architecture, coastal towns, mountain trails, and tapas bars, Spain has enough variety to keep you exploring for weeks—and plenty of reasons to come back.
