Africa Facts & Info
Traveling through Africa offers an incredible range of experiences, from ancient civilizations and historic cities to wildlife, deserts, mountains, and beautiful coastlines. It’s the second largest continent and consists of 54 countries and 9 territories. More than 1.3 billion people live in Africa and the number of languages spoken is over 2000.
Explore the pyramids and temples of Egypt, wander through the markets and medinas of Morocco, go on safari in Kenya or Tanzania, experience the landscapes and cities of South Africa, or relax along the beaches of Zanzibar.
Beyond the well-known destinations, Africa is home to hundreds of distinct cultures, impressive archaeological sites, traditional villages, national parks, and some of the world’s most dramatic scenery. Whether you’re interested in history, wildlife, photography, food, or outdoor adventure, Africa is a vast and diverse continent that could take a lifetime to fully explore.
Because Africa is so large and covers both the Northern and Southern hemispheres, the best time to travel will depend on which countries you plan to visit. If you’re looking to go on a Safari, the best ones happen in countries in the Southern Hemisphere. Going between June and October will be outside the rainy season and cooler.
If you want to visit a northern location such as Morocco or Egypt, avoid the middle of the year when it’s the hottest and opt to travel in early spring (Mar-Apr) or late fall (Oct-Nov). No matter when you choose to go you can guarantee that it will be a unique experience.
