Guide to Africa: Best time to visit Africa

Because Africa is so large and covers both the Northern and Southern hemispheres, the best time to visit Africa will depend on which countries you plan to visit. With the equator almost splitting the continent into 2 equal halves, many of the mid countries will be hot throughout the whole year.

If you’re looking to go on a Safari, the best ones happen in countries in the Southern Hemisphere. Going between June and October will be outside the rainy season and cooler. You will want to decide exactly what it is you want to see such as migrations. Maybe you want to wait until things dry up which brings the herds to drinking holes and you might have a better chance of spotting wildlife.

If you want to visit a northern location such as Morocco or Egypt, avoid the middle of the year when it’s the hottest and opt to travel in early spring (Mar-Apr) or late fall (Oct-Nov). No matter when you choose to go you can guarantee that it will be a unique experience.
